"The Artist" se coronó en los premios Oscar

La película muda fue la gran ganadora de la noche, con cinco estatuillas, incluidas Mejor Película y Mejor Director. Meryl Streep y Jean Dujardin se impusieron como mejores actores. Billy Cristal condujo la entrega

Luego de que los actores desfilaran por la alfombra roja, comenzó la 84 edición de los Oscar, una de las premiaciones más esperadas por las celebridades de la industria del cine mundial.

La ceremonia es conducida -por novena vez- por el reconocido comediante Billy Crystal y se espera que el actor no repita el fracaso que ocurrió el año pasado con los anfitriones Anne Hathaway y James Franco. La presentación fue bastante clásica. Se pudo ver al actor "intercediendo" en las películas nominadas y "despidiendo" a los rollos de cine, marcando el final de una era y el comienzo de una etapa digital.

"Disfruten porque nada puede agobiar los problemas económicos como ver a millonarios dándole premios a otros millonarios", dijo el conductor, antes de cantar un tema en el cual nombró a las nueve películas que compiten por el premio más importante.

La gran ganadora de la noche fue "The Artist" (de Michael Hazanavicius), con cinco premios, entre los que se encontraban Mejor Película, Mejor Director, Mejor Actor, Mejor Vestuario y Mejor Banda Sonora, mientras que Hugo (de Martin Scorsese), también se llevó cinco premios. Los títulos compitieron como mejor película, junto a War Horse, Moneyball, The Descendants, Midnight in Paris, The Help, The Tree of Life, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

Christopher Plummer ganó la estatuilla a Mejor actor de reparto, por su trabajo en la película Begginers, y a sus 82 años, se convirtió en la persona más longeva en llevarse un premio de la Academia. "¿Dónde has estado oda mi vida, sólo tienes dos años más que yo? Cuando salí del vientre de mi madre ya estaba ensayando el discurso de agradecimiento", bromeó el actor.

El show principal de la noche estuvo a cargo de un grupo de acróbatas de Cirque du Soleil.
